Tuchel told BT Sport: "It's nice to see them fighting and staying with them to watch the game."

"We accepted a tough fight. Maybe it didn't look so good on TV, but off the court, it was a very intense game, a very fast game.

"[Porto] has a flexible and smooth attack. They keep changing positions. After they come to themselves, they overlap and you have to adapt to a lot of moves. After a difficult start, we are doing better and better every minute.

"We have a good defense and deserve a clean sheet. We have a better chance-not many-but a better half chance. We can't end the game with a goal, so we have to stay there, and Guys did it. Overall, we deservedly beat Porto. It was a tough 180 minutes."

In expanding his tactical philosophy, Tuchel pointed out how he wanted the Blues to face adversity in order to prevent Porto from feeling completely comfortable pushing everyone forward.

"Part of the performance was not allowing another team to perform. We did it today. We didn't seize any chance until the lucky shot was made at the last minute. We missed some counterattacks in the last three and some contact a little bit more, but we It’s a young team. We have two guys who scored the first UEFA Champions League goal in the first leg. We have to accept this."
