'James wanted to be left out' - Zidane says Rodriguez didn't want to be picked for Real Madrid's win
Oct 19, 2021
Los Blancos' head coach has said the Colombian's reasons are personal and will not be made public
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane claimed that James Rodriguez hopes to be excluded from Sunday's Primera division leader's game against the athletic club.
Despite the lack of Colombians, Madrid won the game 1-0, thanks to Sergio Ramos's penalty after winning the kick due to VAR assessment.
James has a close connection with leaving Bernabeu this summer. The Capitals have only made 14 appearances in all games this season, and with Zidane, there has been more and more speculation.
Zidane told the media after the victory: "He wanted to be excluded for his own reasons." He made sure that his team was ahead of his opponent Barcelona at the top of the leaderboards, thus gaining a seven-point advantage in the standings.
"The reason is between us, I will not repeat them."
Meanwhile, after Ramos scored his third penalty victory in two weeks, Zidane responded in a frustrated manner, claiming that Los Blancos was benefiting from the decision of the match officials.
He said: "I hate to hear that we win because of the referee." "This will not change, but the players should be respected. No one will leave our goal.
"I like our strength the most. When we lose and perform well, we show solidity and balance. We have no spark on offense and we can improve, but our defensive strength is so important." #aclotzone

Eight points from the last four games will be enough to seal the title for Madrid, and while a first domestic crown since 2016-17 is within touching distance, nothing is being taken for granted.
“Until it's mathematically won, we cannot relax or think about the title,” the 1998 World Cup winner said.
“It's a very important victory, a hard-fought game with a lot of intensity.”
