Mbappe forced out of Coupe de France final after horror tackle as Champions League looms

Oct 19, 2021
The France striker lasted a little over half an hour before limping off close to tears and was later seen on crutches

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a serious injury. Forward Kellyen Mbappé was forced to leave with an ankle injury in the first half of the French Cup of Nations final against Saint-Etienne, France.

After being covered up by the slipping challenge of Saint-Etienne defender Loic Perrin, Mbappe was in pain because he always wanted to score.

The replay showed that Mbappe's right ankle was bent inward by a tackle, which caused a fierce scuffle between the two groups of players, and even Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Jessy Moulin ran out of the penalty area.

At the same time, as the PSG medical team rushed to the court to assess the damage, Mbappé was in distress on the lawn.

After several minutes of treatment, the 21-year-old limped straight from the court and was still obviously unwell. When he went straight to the tunnel, Pablo Sarabia was in position and he almost shed Tears.#aclotzone

The former Monaco forward then reappeared from the locker room at the crutches closing stage of the second half.

Palin originally booked for this challenge, but after consulting the VAR monitor, referee Amaury Delerue decided to upgrade his penalty to a red card. This is the third time Saint-Etienne has played against PSG this season. Players were fined in the first half.

PSG also injured defender Thilo Kehrer in the opening 45 minutes and Colin Dagba came on.

Mbappé played a key role in PSG's opener earlier, when Mulan enlisted his violent shot into Neymar's ranks, and Neymar broke through the rebound from close range.
