Chilwell told Chelsea are ‘a step up from Leicester’ as Cole welcomes transfer talk
Oct 19, 2021
The former Blues midfielder would be happy to see the England international left-back make a big-money move to Stamford Bridge this summer
Chelsea's Joe Cole said that Ben Chiver was "in line with the spirit of man" at Chelsea, the Leicester left back told him that switching to Stamford Bridge would be a "step" for his continuous development.
For the 23-year-old defender, a transfer is nothing new, his potential has made his debut since debuting for the Foxes in October 2015.
He was unconfirmed at that time, but later became a Premier League and international star.
Chilwell made 119 appearances for Leicester and also collected 11 senior England caps.
Throughout the football world, his stock has continued to rise, and Chelsea is the latest club linked to large sums of money.
Former blues star Cole saw why Frank Lampard was keen on being a stable performer, and the opportunity to travel to West London might be too good for an ambitious talent.
"To [Timo] Werner, he fits the spirit of the person-he is young and hungry, he has explosive power and athleticism," Cole said in Chilwell's Sunday email.
"I think he is very talented, if he joins Chelsea and works there, in Brendan [Rogers], he will have an excellent manager and an excellent team in Leicester. But Chelsea is closer to Leicester .
"I know they are currently sitting on Chelsea's table, but the opportunity to work with Frank and make improvements will be huge for him.
"He is currently in the left back position in England.
"My advice is to keep the performance and stay stable. If he does, he can become the left back of England. If he comes to Chelsea, then he will be the left back of Chelsea for many years. He is an amazing player, a real Talent."
Chelsea is eager to leave a noteworthy mark in the summer transfer window.
The deal has been bundled with Hakim Ziyech's Ajax and Werner's RB Leipzig, Lampard hopes to make up for the time wasted in improving his ranking.
Chelwell is considered to be the next major goal, and those at Stamford Bridge act quickly to ensure that the increased firepower shifts attention to defensive reinforcements.#aclotzone
