Messi could adopt Xavi role at Barcelona in a few years, says Guardiola's former assistant Torrent

A man who coached both players at Camp Nou during a golden era for the club can see the Argentina superstar dropping into a deeper position

According to Domenec Torrent, former Guardiola's assistant, Lionel Messi may take on Xavi's position in Barcelona a few years later.

Xavi has an outstanding career of 17 years at Camp Nou, during which he won an amazing 25 trophies including eight La Liga titles and four Champions League. The World Cup champion was recognized as Europe's best midfielder during the heyday of his career and reached its peak during Guardiola's historical reign between 2008 and 2012.

The current owner of Manchester has established himself as a management elite after forging one of the greatest teams in Barcelona history, Messi leads in the final third. The six-time Golden Globe winner won the service of Harvey for Blaugrana in the golden age and has since become the club's highest scorer in history.

Although Messi has entered the later stage of his career, there is no sign of slowing down, but Hong Liu believes that he can adapt to his new position when his physical fitness begins to decline.

Torrent used to be Guardiola's second person at the Camp Nou. He told the Spanish publication Ole of Messi's playing experience: "He is a very smart player. Usually, he sinks into the ball. A few years later, if he can play like Harvey wants.

"He will not lose the ball, he will assist and take care of his body throughout his career.

"If he is logically in a deeper position when he starts to lose pace, then he can play as a midfielder or anywhere he wants to go, and he will do well."

Torrent continues to praise Messi as the only genius in his life. He insists that even if the 32-year-old teenager Messi is still a little bit away from his game, he still leads his peers.
